"Patangbaazi" Kite-flying has been popular in Jaipur since its very foundation. We find mention of it in the description of the bazaars of Jaipur as early as 1770 A.D. As it happens, it is, to this day a favoured time pass with it's people. In Jaipur, this sport has a competitive twist. It is also about cutting the kites flown by others and claiming it as yours by collecting it where ever it drops. The winner takes all, no wonder it was a popular sport with our kings!
You too can enjoy this deeply engrossing and surprisingly challenging sport on the Chandni Terrace of DeraMandawa. Many guests are reminded of the wonderful reading of Khaled Hosseini novel 'The Kite Runner'. Here you get to fly kites with our passionate in-house kite flyers all decked up Rajasthani Turbans and Scarves. And enjoy Indian style high tea, there is a constant supply of Indian snacks and our favourite beverage – Chai.
The Saree is also known as the 9 yard wonder. It is often said in India that a woman looks her most beautiful in a Saree. It is indubitably one of the most feminine and striking attires in the world. Wearing one is no mean feat. But once you do, you will definitely get to feel like a traditional Indian woman.
For the men, we have the Safa, a head scarf that is even longer than a saree! This multilayered turban will add some real colour and splendour to your memories of Rajastan.
